A Balakhnin man who killed his wife and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter was sent for treatment.

      On May 21, 2026, at 09:08, Incidents: The court has sent a resident of Balakhna for compulsory treatment for the murder of his wife and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      As established by the investigation and the court, in January 2025, the man was in an apartment in a building on Bumazhnikov Street in Balakhna. During a quarrel with his wife, he inflicted multiple stab wounds on her and also struck his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter on the head with a blunt object. The girl died on the spot. Her mother was hospitalized but later died in the hospital.

      A stationary comprehensive forensic psychological and psychiatric examination showed that the man suffers from a mental disorder that deprived him of the ability to understand the factual nature and social danger of his actions and to control them.

      The press service of the regional court added that the man has been exempted from criminal liability for the act committed in a state of insanity. A compulsory medical measure has been imposed on him.

      It was previously reported that a 15-year-old teenager was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months of imprisonment in a juvenile correctional facility for murder with particular cruelty motivated by hooliganism.
