A drunk driver veered off the road in the Lukoyanovsky district: five children were injured.

      On May 21, 2026, at 09:22, Incidents: Five children were injured as a result of an accident in the Lukoyanovsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the press service of the regional State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. The traffic accident occurred on May 20 at around 18:50 on the approach to the village of Kryukovka. A 45-year-old man, who was in a state of alcohol intoxication, was behind the wheel of a Cherry Tiggo vehicle. The driver did not choose a safe speed. While making a left turn, he lost control of the vehicle, after which the car veered into the right ditch and overturned into a body of water. There were underage passengers in the cabin. As a result of the incident, five children aged between 6 and 12 were injured. An eight-year-old girl was diagnosed with a fracture of the left shin, while the other victims sustained bruises and abrasions. All the children were taken to the hospital. An investigation is underway regarding the accident. Earlier, it was reported that a 54-year-old woman from Nizhny Novgorod was injured in a mass traffic accident on the Nizhnevolzhskaya embankment.
