A child and three adults drowned in Nizhny Novgorod's water bodies over the week.

      On May 18, 2026, at 11:20 Incidents Four tragedies occurred at water bodies in the Nizhny Novgorod region during the week from May 11 to May 17. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the region. Three adults and one child—a 13-year-old boy—died. Recall that the teenager drowned in Lake Malibu in Volodarsk on May 17. According to preliminary information, he wanted to swim across the water body but quickly disappeared underwater and later did not resurface. The Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office are conducting checks to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.
