Nizhny Novgorod graduates were banned from dancing the waltz to non-patriotic tracks.
May 17, 2026 15:19 Society Graduates from one of the schools in Nizhny Novgorod complained to Ekaterina Mizulina about the ban on dancing to Russian music, which they had chosen for the waltz at the last bell ceremony. The head of the "League of Safe Internet" published the children's appeal on social media. The students reported that the day before, there was a review of the performances prepared by the eleventh graders for the celebration. According to them, the school's administration criticized the chosen music and demanded that new dances be performed "to patriotic tracks." Allegedly, the administration had no complaints only about the performance featuring the song by the group "Lyube" "From the Volga to the Yenisei." As the teenagers clarified, school staff justified the need for changes by saying they received "recommendations" regarding the last bell ceremony. Meanwhile, the children mentioned that they were dancing to tracks in Russian, performed by artists who are not foreign agents, one of which is a soundtrack from an animated film. Meanwhile, there is only one week left until the last bell.
"We don't know what to do, two months of rehearsals wasted. We have very little time left before the Unified State Exam, and we are being told to put on something new. We are already in despair, please advise us on what is best to do," the students wrote to Ekaterina Mizulina.
