Nizhny Novgorod residents can visit the graphic arts fair "Contour" in Nizhny Novgorod until May 17.

On May 16, 2026, at 12:41 PM, Culture and Leisure In Nizhny Novgorod, a large cultural program is taking place, including the graphic fair "Contour" and the photography exhibition "Contour.Photo" (16+). Until May 17, the space of the Red Barracks on the Lower Volga Embankment will serve as a venue for showcasing works from dozens of Russian galleries, contemporary authors, and special projects.

This year, the "Contour" fair has significantly expanded its program and has become one of the key cultural venues for the May holidays in the city. It brings together not only professionals from the art community and collectors but also ordinary residents of Nizhny Novgorod, students, young authors, and tourists who have come specifically for this event.

One of the standout participants of the fair is the "Height" gallery, which presented a rare etching by the legendary American artist Kiki Smith. Her works are held in the collections of the largest museums in the world. Visitors can also see works by contemporary artist Oleg Ivashchenko, whose works are rarely exhibited outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The fair features works from leading Russian galleries and independent projects specializing in contemporary art, photography, and print graphics. Here, one can see both young authors and works by museum-level artists. This is a unique opportunity to get acquainted with works that usually remain outside major cities.

Oleg Berkovich, Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, emphasized the importance of the fair for shaping the cultural environment in the region.

"It is especially important that a community of people is gradually forming around the fair, who are beginning to take an interest in collecting, contemporary art, and photography. For Nizhny Novgorod, this is a very important process—when culture becomes a part of urban life not only through institutions but also through the personal interest of people," he commented.
