      May 16, 2026 12:20 Society The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, demanded that the leadership of the regional department report on the progress of the investigation into the criminal case related to the inadequate condition of the road infrastructure in the village of Varezh in the Pavlovsky municipal district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. This decision was made after residents of the village addressed their concerns on the social network "VKontakte," where they complained about problems with access due to the poor condition of the road. According to local residents, the access road to their village is in an emergency state: the asphalt surface is absent, and the dirt road is being washed away by rain, forming deep ruts. As a result, access is difficult for both personal and service vehicles, including emergency service cars. Consequently, residents of Varezh face problems when traveling to medical facilities and other important social objects. Local authorities are not taking sufficient measures to repair the road, which causes dissatisfaction and concern among the population. In this regard, the regional Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case to clarify the circumstances and hold those responsible accountable. Bastrykin instructed the head of the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod region, Ayrat Akhmetshin, to provide a report on the progress of the investigation and the measures being taken to address the problem. The execution of this instruction has been placed under control at the central office of the agency.
