Nizhny Novgorod men think about changing jobs more often than women.

May 14, 2026 15:07 Economy Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region, like Russians in general, are actively interested in employment opportunities and additional work. The most determined candidates are men aged 35-44, and the average offered salary was 73,111 rubles/month, as found by analysts from MegaFon and Avito Jobs in a joint study. Nizhny Novgorod men are considering changing positions, workplaces, and looking for additional employment options 15% more often than women. Male candidates aged 35-44 show the highest interest, accounting for 23% of the data volume spent on job vacancy services. Overall in the country, the age category of 35-44 also leads, making up 43% among other candidates. Next are candidates aged 45-54 (26%) and 25-34 (18%). However, in terms of the dynamics of demand for employment nationwide, schoolchildren and students, who are currently busy with their education, are ahead: over the past six months, they have increased traffic on job vacancy sites by 27%. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the picture is slightly different: the greatest demand dynamics for employment is shown by candidates aged 25-34 (+37%) and 45-54 (+24%). Nizhny Novgorod residents most often look at vacancies and send resumes to potential employers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while they prefer to take a break on Sundays. Traditionally, December and January are the "quietest" months regarding job changes. Hiring rates increase in the summer and autumn. Last year, the peak period was September-October when traffic was one-third higher than the average monthly value. The activity of job seekers continues to grow, and this trend is observed not only in the gender and age sample but also across certain professions. There is also an increase in the initiative of job seekers in many areas, including applied specialties and skilled professionals. "According to Avito Jobs, from February to March 2026, the labor market showed significant growth in engagement among job seekers. The number of resumes for insulator vacancies increased by 138%, while the average salary expectation was 141,726 rubles/month. A strong growth is also observed in other professions: gardeners - by 111%, with salary expectations of 72,417 rubles/month, and sorters - by 80% (73,162 rubles/month). In turn, the dynamics of the number of vacancies is also impressive: for insulators, vacancies increased by 168%, and for electricians - by 130%. This confirms the growing interest in working specialties, where there is high competition for skilled personnel," commented Roman Gubanov, director of Avito Jobs development.
