The Ministry of Emergency Situations warned Nizhny Novgorod residents about the abnormal heat from May 15 to 19.

      On May 14, 2026, at 14:48, the Nizhny Novgorod Society warned residents about the anomalously hot weather that will settle in the region and the regional center from May 15 to May 19. This information is provided by the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, referencing the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Upper Volga Hydrometeorological Center." According to meteorologists, the average daily air temperature will exceed the climatic norm by 7 degrees or more, with usual values ranging from 11 to 14 degrees.

      Due to the establishment of hot weather, the risk of emergencies increases. This primarily concerns forest and natural fires: an increase in the number of ignition points and the expansion of their areas is possible, as well as the spread of fire to populated areas and economic facilities.

      In addition, an increase in the number of incidents at water bodies is forecasted. According to the "Yandex Weather" service, on May 15, the air temperature will rise to +24 degrees. On Saturday, May 16, up to +26 is expected, and on Sunday, May 17, up to +28. On Monday and Tuesday, May 18 and 19, the temperature will be 29-30 degrees.
