More than 30 violations of migration legislation were identified in shops and cafes in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. The basis for a series of inspections was the governor's decree of the region dated February 17, 2026, No. 30, which prohibits the employment of foreign citizens under patents in certain sectors of the economy. During the raids, inspectors visited eight business entities—public catering points, retail and wholesale trade stores. As a result, 37 administrative offenses were identified. Protocols were drawn up against 24 foreign workers. Fines totaling 59,000 rubles were imposed on the offenders. One of the natives of a neighboring country will be forcibly expelled from Russia. Entrepreneurs who committed violations will also be held administratively liable—the case materials are under review. The regional Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded that employers must strictly comply with the requirements of migration legislation, and foreign citizens must adhere to the rules for staying in the territory of the Russian Federation. Ignoring these norms leads not only to fines but also to deportation with a ban on entry. Inspections will continue—the police will focus on the areas of trade, construction, and services, where the share of foreign labor is traditionally high.
