In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the resignation of former judge Viktor Fomin has been revoked.

On May 14, 2026, at 16:08 Society The Qualification Collegium of Judges of the Nizhny Novgorod Region decided at a meeting on May 14 to terminate the resignation of the regional court judge Viktor Fomin. The information was published on the KKS website. The message states that the decision was made based on subparagraphs 2 and 4 of paragraph 6 of Article 15 of the RF Law "On the Status of Judges in the Russian Federation." Subparagraph 2 concerns the violation of prohibitions and restrictions provided by law, while subparagraph 4 pertains to engaging in activities incompatible with the status of a judge. According to the law "On the Status of Judges in the RF," the termination of a judge's resignation, except in the case of reappointment or election to the position, results in the termination of the judge's status, the loss of guarantees of personal inviolability and belonging to the judicial community, as well as the termination of the associated status of material and social security. At the same time, the judge whose resignation is terminated retains the right to pension provision in accordance with the legislation of the RF. It was previously reported that the court seized property worth 166 million rubles from former Nizhny Novgorod judge Viktor Fomin. It was established that during his tenure as a judge, Fomin violated anti-corruption restrictions, received income not provided for by law, and spent it on the purchase of expensive real estate in Moscow, the Moscow region, Saratov, and Rostov regions. To conceal the actual level of income, the property was registered in the names of relatives. The list included 35 real estate objects - land plots, residential and non-residential premises, as well as a BMW X6 XDRIVE 30D car. The court concluded that the registration of property in the names of third parties was used to circumvent income declaration requirements and conceal the sources of funds.
