An exhibition about Golovanov has opened at the Nizhny Novgorod airport.

      At the international airport of Nizhny Novgorod named after V. P. Chkalov, an exhibition dedicated to the Marshal of Aviation, Colonel General Alexander Golovanov, has opened. The exhibition is timed to coincide with Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition features archival photographs, documents, models of aircraft, copies of orders, and personal items related to the history of long-range aviation and the feats of Soviet pilots. A bust monument of Alexander Golovanov, created by Nizhny Novgorod sculptor and member of the Union of Artists of Russia Sergey Malkov, is also on display. Alexander Evgenievich Golovanov was a native of Nizhny Novgorod, the Chief Marshal of Aviation, and the commander of long-range aviation during the Great Patriotic War. He became the youngest marshal in the history of the Red Army, personally participated in combat flights, and led strategic bombing operations over Berlin. Golovanov was awarded two Orders of Lenin, three Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of Suvorov I class, and other state awards. The exhibition is organized by the autonomous non-profit organization "Unified Center for Preparing Citizens for Military Service and Military-Patriotic Education of Youth 'Avangard'", the international airport of Nizhny Novgorod named after V. P. Chkalov, and the regional branch of the Russian Military Historical Society in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Representatives of public organizations, the historical community, patriotic associations, students, and youth from the region participated in the opening ceremony. The life and combat path of Alexander Golovanov was discussed by public figure, honorary citizen of the Nizhny Novgorod region, local historian, and author of the book "Nizhny Novgorod Flying Marshal" Gennady Suvorov. Ivan Kalmykov, Chairman of the Council of the regional branch of the Russian Military Historical Society in the Nizhny Novgorod region and Rector of the Corporate University of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory. Maxim Umerenko, Director of Strategic Communications at the International Airport named after V. P. Chkalov, stressed that it is important for the airport to host an exhibition dedicated to the development of military aviation in the country. Andrey Nestenko, Executive Director of the ANO Unified Center "Avangard" and participant in the Special Military Operation, stated the importance of maintaining the connection between generations and fostering respect for the feats of the defenders of the Fatherland.

      The exhibition will be open at the airport until the end of May.
