Nizhny Novgorod cadets of the EMERCOM universities will be granted a deferment from conscription.

      On May 12, 2026, at 17:10, Society - President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting a deferment from military service for university students under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. This applies to citizens of the Russian Federation who are studying full-time as cadets and who have enrolled in such educational organizations immediately after obtaining secondary vocational education. At the same time, the profile of previous education must correspond to the training areas in the universities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to the document, no more than 200 people per year will be eligible for deferment. The Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergency Situations, and Disaster Relief is required to send lists of enrolled cadets to the Ministry of Defense within a month from the date of their enrollment, and to provide information about expelled students within three days from the date of expulsion. It was previously reported that during the spring conscription campaign, it is planned to send about 2,700 people from the Nizhny Novgorod region to their places of service.
