During this time, doctors identified 9.8 thousand cases of chronic diseases. This was reported by the press service of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention. According to the Deputy Minister of Health of the region, Tatyana Kovalenko, over the past year, more than 1.08 million residents of the region underwent medical check-ups and preventive examinations. During the examinations, doctors first identified almost 39 thousand cases of chronic non-communicable diseases. Most often, patients were diagnosed with diseases of the circulatory system, respiratory diseases, diabetes, and oncology. In addition, about 273 thousand people underwent examinations related to the assessment of reproductive health. Specialists also named the main risk factors for the health of Nizhny Novgorod residents. The leading factor was improper nutrition, noted in almost 44% of those examined. This was followed by low physical activity, excess weight, high cholesterol, and smoking. According to Tatyana Kovalenko, most risk factors can be adjusted.
