Three more villages have been abolished in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
On May 9, 2026, at 17:54 Society Significant changes have occurred in the administrative-territorial structure of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Documents amending the status of certain settlements were signed by the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region on May 7 and subsequently published on the official portal of legal acts. In the Knyagininsky district, in the Vozrozhdeniye rural council, the village of Sosnovka received a new status - that of a village. This decision was made by the Council of Deputies. Additionally, in this rural council, two settlements were merged: the village of Shishkoverd and the village of Konstantinovka. As a result, the village of Konstantinovka was abolished, and its territory was incorporated into the village of Shishkoverd. Changes also affected the Arzamas district. In the Chernukhinsky rural council, the village of Pustyn, the village of Menshikov and the settlement of Staraia Pustyn were merged into one village called "Pustyn." Menshikov and Staraia Pustyn ceased to exist as separate administrative units. At the same time, in the Ardatovsky district, a reverse transformation occurred: in the workers' settlement of Ardatov, the village of Sosnovka became a village. It should be noted that in 2026, due to a lack of population, it is planned to exclude the rural settlement of the forest plot Usta (Sharangsky municipal district), the Borovsky cordon (Krasnobakovsky municipal district), the rural settlement of Yelevaia Zavod (Varnavinsky municipal district), and the settlement of Ulyishche (urban district of the city of Kulebaki) from the administrative-territorial division.
