Volunteers are already in the DPR with another humanitarian mission and are delivering gifts. Each set included products from Nizhny Novgorod producers and wall clocks with Victory symbols. Congratulations are being received by veterans of the Great Patriotic War, participants of the special military operation, and their families in Khartsyzk, Ilovaisk, and Mangush. Governor Gleb Nikitin noted that congratulating the heroes of Donbass on the Great Victory has already become a good tradition. According to him, these gifts serve as a symbol of gratitude and memory of the feat of ancestors who stood shoulder to shoulder for the freedom of the country. Today, their descendants honorably continue this mission, defending the same values for which the generation of victors fought.
One of those visited was the only front-line soldier living in Khartsyzk - Afanasy Kharlampievich Demishev. He is 101 years old and has a long history: since 1943 he fought in a rifle regiment, then served as a cavalryman in a Cossack regiment and fought his way to Hungary, where he met Victory. His military merits are marked by the Order of the Patriotic War II degree, the Order of "For Courage," and the medals "For the Defense of Stalingrad" and "For Victory over Germany." The veteran was congratulated right at home, and in return, he shared memories: he told how Marshal Budyonny visited them and how he restored his native collective farm after the war.
Another 330 festive sets were sent to Ilovaisk. Volunteers handed out gifts together with representatives of the local administration. Deputy Mayor Elena Doroshilova thanked the region for its attention and noted that the seven veterans living in Ilovaisk were sincerely touched by such attention. Gifts were also given to participants of the special military operation and their families.
In Mangush, volunteers not only congratulate the heroes but also actively participate in festive events. Senior volunteer Anna Korotkikh admitted that it is a great honor for the team to present gifts from the Nizhny Novgorod region.
- These people are real heroes. Their feat is an example of courage and selflessness for all generations. We thank each of them for the peaceful sky and the opportunity to live in a free country, - she said.
Volunteers also visited one of the military units in the DPR. They handed out greeting cards to the soldiers of the special military operation, badges made from St. George ribbons that they made together with children, and chevrons with inscriptions from the residents of Nizhny Novgorod.
Let us remind you that the volunteer center of the House of National Unity was created with the support of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region to assist residents of the patronized territories of the Donetsk People's Republic.
