Nizhny Novgorod residents can apply to the "Icebreaker of Knowledge."

      Young residents of Nizhny Novgorod aged 14 to 16 can participate in the international scientific and educational project of the state corporation "Rosatom" called "Icebreaker of Knowledge." The winners will embark on an expedition to the North Pole aboard the nuclear icebreaker "50 Years of Victory." The expedition is timed to coincide with the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. For the first time, representatives from all federal districts of the country will participate. The launch of the seventh season of the project took place at the "ATOM" museum at VDNH. A competitive selection has been announced among school students, college, and technical school students. To participate, registration is required by May 24 inclusive on the website https://polus.atom.online/, where participants must pass intellectual tests and complete creative tasks. This season features three thematic tracks: "Seeker" — for future scientists, researchers, and science journalists; "Creator" — for future engineers, designers, and constructors; "Master" — for representatives of skilled trades. The "Master" track is included in the program for the first time. Following the online selection, 96 school students and college students will participate in in-person regional semifinals, which will take place in each of the eight federal districts. Participants will face practical tasks related to the development of the nuclear industry — from nuclear energy and quantum technologies to nuclear medicine and sustainable development of the Arctic. For the second consecutive year, the semifinals will be held at youth center venues created as part of the national project "Youth and Children." The final selection will take place in June 2026 in Moscow, where two teams from each federal district will meet. Teams that demonstrate the best results in their districts will go on the Arctic expedition. Russian winners will be joined by school students from 22 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa. Their selection will take place in early May on the platform https://goarctic.energy/. Additionally, participants in the expedition will include prize winners and winners of major federal, regional, and industry youth competitions and Olympiads. The "Icebreaker of Knowledge" expedition is scheduled for August 2026.

      The project aims to popularize natural science disciplines and technologies of the nuclear industry, support talented school students, and develop their professional orientation. Over six seasons, more than 400 school students from different countries have participated in Rosatom's Arctic expeditions. Russia's nuclear icebreaker fleet includes eight nuclear icebreakers: "Arctica," "Siberia," "Ural," "Yakutia," "Yamal," "50 Years of Victory," "Taimyr," and "Vaigach."
