Two Nizhny Novgorod residents were convicted for creating and selling malicious software.

      May 8, 2026 13:32 Incidents The Nizhny Novgorod District Court sentenced two residents of Nizhny Novgorod who were accused of creating, distributing, and using malicious software, the press service of the regional court reported. It was established that the young men acted in collusion and for selfish reasons. They were found guilty under part 2 of article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - creation, distribution, and use of computer programs and other information knowingly intended for unauthorized destruction, blocking, modification, and copying of data, as well as for neutralizing protection measures. According to the case materials, the defendants created and administered accounts in the Telegram messenger. Through them, they offered and distributed malicious software for money. Both fully admitted their guilt. At their request, the case was considered in a special procedure - without examining evidence in a court session, in accordance with chapter 40 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. The court imposed a sentence of restriction of freedom for two years on each of them. Currently, the sentence has not entered into legal force.
