The operation of airports in southern Russia is planned to resume on May 8.

May 8, 2026 14:37 Society Flights to the airports in the southern regions of the country are expected to resume on May 8 after 3:00 PM Moscow time. This was reported by the Ministry of Transport of Russia. The agency noted that the schedule will be adjusted. By the end of the day, 59 flights from Moscow and 158 flights from other regions of Russia are planned. Against the backdrop of restrictions, passengers are offered alternative travel options. The ministry noted that a sufficient number of tickets for trains of JSC "Russian Railways" heading south remain on sale. If technically feasible, the carrier is ready to quickly increase the number of cars in the trains. From May 10, additional trains to Moscow from Adler, Novorossiysk, Mineralnye Vody, Astrakhan, and Volgograd via Saratov will also be scheduled. In addition, the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Unified Transport Directorate" of the Ministry of Transport of Russia is working on attracting bus transport to carry passengers between the southern regions, as well as from major railway stations and other logistics centers to final destinations. Earlier, the Ministry of Transport reported the suspension of operations at 13 airports after a drone hit the administrative building of the "Aeronavigation of Southern Russia" branch in Rostov-on-Don. According to preliminary data, the restrictions will be in effect until May 12, but this period may be shortened. Additionally, temporary restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft are in effect at Nizhny Novgorod Airport "Chkalov" on May 8. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
