Traffic is open on the bridge over the Sura River between the Nizhny Novgorod region and Chuvashia.

      On May 8, 2026, at 15:42, Society In the Pilninsky municipal district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, traffic was opened on a floating bridge over the Sura River. The crossing is located on the highway "Mameshevo - Navaty - Shumerlya - border with the Chuvash Republic," reported the regional State Administration of Highways. The length of the bridge is 156 meters. The structure includes 47 pontoons and two ramp exits, each 12 meters long. The crossing over the Sura connects the settlements of the Nizhny Novgorod region and Chuvashia. The detour route is significantly longer: about 120 kilometers instead of 50. In 2024, repairs were carried out at the site. The contractor brought the turning and hinge devices, ramps, and approaches into compliance, installed lights and navigation lights, and also painted the bridge structures.
