      The veterinary hospital "Zooschutz-NN," with the support of the Nizhny Novgorod City Hall, is improving a new rehabilitation area for walking dogs. The work is being carried out on the instruction of the city head Yuri Shalabaev. In addition, the organization has completed the setup of warm enclosures for the post-operative care of animals. The new area is planned to host activities with volunteers and dog trainers aimed at socializing stray animals. The first deputy director of the Department of Urban Improvement of Nizhny Novgorod, Alexey Krasnov, noted that the city authorities have been supporting both the hospital and the shelter "Sostradanie-NN" for several years. According to him, cooperation with the fund includes not only assistance in socializing animals and forming a culture of responsible treatment of them but also the implementation of joint social projects. This includes vaccination, sterilization, and emergency treatment of animals. The administration has also been subsidizing the shelter's expenses for utilities, fire safety, disinfection, and video surveillance for the third year. Since last year, by the decision of Yuri Shalabaev, the fund has been receiving compensation for veterinary assistance to animals in dangerous situations. "Veterinary care is very expensive, and thanks to the support of the municipality, animals continue to live," emphasized Alexey Krasnov. He added that the city authorities are closely monitoring the development of the fund and the quality of conditions for keeping animals. The number of ownerless animals is gradually decreasing; however, the problem of stray animals remains relevant. Recently, as part of the month of urban improvement declared by the city head Yuri Shalabaev, employees of the Gorcomecology of Nizhny Novgorod participated in work on the territory of the hospital. They planted trees and shrubs and also tidied up the new area for walking dogs. The head of the laboratory of Gorcomecology, Elena Tselikina, noted that for a large city like Nizhny Novgorod, organizations that systematically address the problem of stray animals are especially important. "Such funds help ease the tension between supporters and opponents of animals, making the city safer and more humane. The more such organizations there are in Russia, the better," she said. The head of the hospital "Zooschutz-NN," Ilya Kazakov, reported that in addition to the new area, warm enclosures for post-operative care of animals have been set up in the institution. The floors and wall coverings in the premises have been replaced, ventilation and heating have been updated, and additional pumps have been installed. According to Kazakov, the new boxes are already being used for the care of animals after surgeries. He noted that warm rooms are especially important for stray animals, as they allow for a shorter rehabilitation period. "The support of the administration is invaluable to us: the city helps pay for utilities, subsidizes emergency veterinary care, and compensates for expenses on fire safety," said Ilya Kazakov.
