      Nizhny Novgorod's "Torpedo" commented on the name of the new Ice Palace at the Strelka. Recall that the arena was named "VOLGA Arena" in honor of the revived automotive brand. Veteran of the club, record holder for the number of seasons with "Torpedo," long-time captain and board member Mikhail Presnyakov noted the symbolism of the chosen name.

      "Soon our beloved hockey team 'Torpedo' will move to a new home ground—a modern ice arena on the banks of the Volga. Together with our club, it was decided to name it 'Volga Arena.' This is maximally symbolic for Nizhny Novgorod and perfectly reflects the spirit of our team—strong, fast, confident, and large-scale—since 'Torpedo' supports a huge number of fans, not only from Nizhny but from all over the country. I am sure that twice as many spectators will come to the matches of our hockey club! Together for Nizhny!" he said.

      The club's commercial director Anton Tkhorev reminded that assigning names to sports facilities in partnership with commercial companies is a common global practice.

      "'VOLGA Arena' is that rare case where everything came together as it should: the automotive brand 'VOLGA' received bright integration in a wonderful place—a tourist cluster at the Strelka, the hockey club—a modern arena, and the city—a new point of attraction. And all this next to the Volga—symbolic and beautiful!" he added.

      Tkhorev also pointed out that in the difficult economic situation, it was possible to attract commercial funds to the regional budget. According to him, these funds will be directed towards the development of the arena and the club.

      "From this, everyone will definitely benefit—both the ice and the fans of our beloved 'Torpedo,' and guests of other events that will be held at the facility," concluded the commercial director.

      It is expected that the facility will be handed over to the club this summer. After that, "Torpedo" plans to conduct a testing period lasting about one to one and a half months.
