What the authorities of Dzerzhinsk say about the destruction of the embankment near the Shukhov Tower

On May 6, 2026, at 09:53, the Dzerzhinsk Administration commented on the situation regarding the partial destruction of the embankment near the Shukhov Tower and reported on further actions. The information was published on the official page of the city hall on VKontakte.

Recall that in April, due to the intense rise of floodwaters, a section of the coastal fortification collapsed. The river overflow, as explained by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, caused serious soil erosion and damaged protective structures near the unique architectural monument. The area has been cordoned off with warning structures and informational signs have been installed.

Currently, the situation is being monitored by city administration staff in conjunction with specialists from the branch of PJSC "Rosseti Center and Volga" - "Nizhnevenergo".

The administration added that Mayor Mikhail Klinkov has agreed with the management of "Nizhnevenergo" to conduct a detailed engineering survey after the water has fully receded and landslide processes have ceased. Based on the results of the inspection, the volume and timelines for restoration work will be determined.

"The embankment near the Shukhov Tower - the only hyperboloid multi-section support in the world - is very popular among Dzerzhinsk residents and city guests," the city hall noted, emphasizing that a significant contribution to its improvement was previously made by the "Nizhnevenergo" branch.

Residents and guests of the city are asked to observe safety precautions, not to approach the cordoned-off area, and to follow the instructions of informational signs.

It was previously reported that traffic restrictions have been introduced on the Eastern approach to Nizhny Novgorod from the M-7 "Volga" highway due to flooding.
