"Route of Victory": on the roads of heroism - a connection of generations and eras

      On May 6, 2026, at 10:54, the Young Guard of the Nizhny Novgorod Region launched a large-scale patriotic campaign "Route of Victory," dedicated to preserving the historical memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War. A column of stylized "Sobol NN" vehicles set off from Nizhny Novgorod along a route that passes through cities where the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was forged: Saransk, Penza, Saratov, Volgograd, Stavropol, Rostov-on-Don, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Ryazan, and Moscow. This path is a living map, along which young people follow the route of heroes to feel a connection with the history of the country.

      The run is imbued with special symbolism due to the connection of times. During the war years, the legendary GAZ-AA "one-and-a-half" trucks became a true support for the front: delivering ammunition and food, evacuating the wounded, and paving the way to Victory. Today, their successors are modern vehicles that reliably serve the country, ensuring the operation of cities, enterprises, and social infrastructure, and helping the front. Technologies change, but the main values remain unchanged—responsibility, reliability, and loyalty to one's cause.

      In each city, participants of the campaign will lay flowers at monuments and memorials, honor the memory of heroes, meet with veterans of the special military operation and the Great Patriotic War, and provide assistance to their families. The final stage of the route will be the return to Nizhny Novgorod on May 9, where activists will participate in key events dedicated to Victory Day, completing the journey with a symbolic connection of the past and present.

      "The Route of Victory passes through the places where the front was, where our ancestors, at the cost of incredible efforts and sacrifices, achieved Victory in the most terrible war of modernity. It is important for young people to help veterans of the special military operation and visit veterans of the Great Patriotic War—to be useful to heroes in every city. It is beneficial for the current generation to feel a sense of connection with the achievements of great ancestors," noted the leader of the Young Guard of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Roman Zykov.

      "The Route of Victory" is a symbol that the spirit of the victors is alive and continues to unite generations, cities, and people around the main value—the memory of the people's feat.
