The criminal case against the judge of the Krasnoslobodsky District Court of the Republic of Mordovia will be heard in the Pochinkovsky District Court of the Nizhny Novgorod region. He is accused of rendering a knowingly unjust verdict, as reported by the unified press service of the courts of general jurisdiction in the region.
According to the prosecution, the judge was considering a case of a traffic accident caused by a driver under the influence of alcohol, which resulted in a person's death (paragraph "a" of part 4 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Instead of a real punishment for the defendant, the judge illegally applied article 64 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced the guilty party to a punishment below the minimum - only two years in a settlement colony with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the management of transport for the same period.
The investigation believes that he was guided not by the law, but by a personal request from other representatives of the judicial community. The date of the first hearing will be announced later.
