The court ordered the authorities of Dzerzhinsk to pay 780,000 rubles for the dump near Pyra.

      On May 4, 2026, at 13:57, the administration of Dzerzhinsk is required by Rosprirodnadzor to pay compensation for the damage caused to the environment in the area of the village of Pyra. The cassation court supported the agency's demand for the municipality to reimburse funds for soil damage. Previously, the Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the First Arbitration Appeal Court also sided with the supervisory agency. As a result, the administration was ordered to pay 780,000 rubles. This amount was assessed by specialists as the damage caused by the illegal dumping of waste in the forest area near the village of Pyra. The dump was discovered in 2022. The site revealed piles of unknown solid chemical substances, construction debris, metal objects, polyethylene, and solid municipal waste. The area of contamination exceeded 200 square meters. The land plot has an undivided form of ownership; however, the responsibility for its maintenance is assigned to local government authorities. Courts of three instances concluded that the pollution was a result of the administration's inaction and improper performance of duties to protect the environment, fully supporting the position of Rosprirodnadzor.
