      On May 1, in the church dedicated to the holy great martyr and healer Panteleimon, located in the Prioksky Deanery of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese, the ark with a particle of the relics of the righteous Alexius of Bortsurman was welcomed. The solemn meeting of the shrine and the Divine Liturgy was led by the dean and rector of this parish, priest Oleg Karsakov, with the co-servants of the head of the diocesan department for interaction with institutions of the penal system, priest Alexey Kalugin, the assistant dean for youth affairs, priest Kirill Fokin, and the cleric of the diocese, priest Sergey Kazantsev. After the liturgy, the priests performed a glorification before the ark. The shrine will remain in the central church of the deanery until the evening of May 2. Righteous Alexius of Bortsurman achieved the highest degree of spiritual perfection in his life on earth; he sought God with all his soul and became His faithful witness. And when a particle of the saint's earthly presence comes to our church, it means that he himself is invisibly present here, ready to hear our prayers, strengthen us in faith, and help us in our life trials. Blessed Seraphim of Sarov had deep respect for the ascetic labors of Saint Alexius and spoke of him as follows: 'This man, by his prayers, is like a candle lit before the throne of God. Here is a worker who, without monastic vows, stands above many monks. He shines like a star on the Christian horizon,'" said priest Oleg Karsakov.

After a vision of an Angel with a Chalice (1796), he completely changed his life, performing the liturgy daily and adhering to a strict prayer rule. Saint Alexius possessed the gift of foresight, healing, and spiritual mentorship. He was canonized in 2000. His relics rest in the Assumption Church of the village of Bortsurman.
