Participants of the project "The World in Your Hands" will be able to embark on a journey to Kamchatka.
May 2, 2026 10:45 Society The development program "Another Business" of the presidential platform "Russia - a land of opportunities" announces the start of accepting applications for the ecological special project "The World in Your Hands." Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region have a chance to go on a free eco-trip to Kamchatka in July. Applications can be submitted until June 15, 2026. The special project is organized in support of the national project "Ecological Well-Being."
The ecological agenda in Russia has ceased to be the concern of specialists; it is increasingly becoming part of the daily lives of young people. According to VTsIOM, the overwhelming majority of youth (84%) are interested in the ecological situation in the country, their region, or city, and 49% of respondents state that they feel personal responsibility for the ecological situation in the country. The regional agenda and support for local initiatives hold a special place. It is in this request — the desire not just to know but to act — that the special project "The World in Your Hands" is conducted.
"Young people today want not only to study ecology as a science but also to be involved in implementing its key trends. 'The World in Your Hands' is just such a space: here you can create and see the results of your efforts, find people who share your values. Kamchatka is a special place. When you look at the volcanoes or untouched forests, you acutely understand the importance of ecological initiatives. Participants always return from our trips with new experiences and ideas for launching ecological projects," noted Darya Mikaelyan, head of the digital projects department of the presidential platform "Russia - a land of opportunities."
To participate in the selection, it is necessary to write a motivational essay-publication about one's own eco-habits and pass tests about the protected areas of Russia, ecological safety, as well as recycling and waste disposal. The competition commission will determine ten winners aged 18 to 35. The TOP-10 list will be published on the special project website on June 30. For those who complete all tasks but do not make it into the top ten winners, an additional draw is provided: more than 100 prize boxes with ecological souvenir products and content creation equipment on the topic of ecology. Applications are accepted on the official website of the special project.
The competition tasks will be evaluated by experts in the field of ecology and sustainable development from leading Russian organizations: the Russian Ecological Operator (REO), the magazine "Around the World," the company GRASS, the movement "Ecosystem," "EKA," "EcoLine Group," and others. The special project is organized in support of the national project "Ecological Well-Being" and promotes ecological education among the youth of Russia.
"The Russian Ecological Operator supports educational and ecological initiatives that engage young people in practical agendas. Such projects give participants the opportunity to practically understand issues related to waste management, separate collection, and recycling. It is important for us that ecological knowledge translates into real actions and involves more and more people across the country," said Dmitry Boyko, PR director of REO.
In July, the winners of the special project will go to Kamchatka — one of the untouched natural regions of Russia and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. Over seven days, participants will have excursions to recycling enterprises, thematic lectures from ecological mentors, the development of their own eco-projects, visits to protected areas and national parks, as well as a cultural program: getting acquainted with the nature, traditions, and history of the Kamchatka region.
The special project "The World in Your Hands" has existed for several years and consistently ranks among the most sought-after activities of the "Another Business" project of the presidential platform "Russia - a land of opportunities." In previous seasons, "The World in Your Hands" brought together more than 350 participants from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, and other cities across the country — together they collected over five tons of garbage in the Astrakhan, Murmansk, Sverdlovsk, Penza regions, and Krasnoyarsk Krai.
