The assistant forester in Bor received 8.5 years of strict regime and a fine of 10.8 million rubles.

      On April 30, 2026, at 19:43, Incidents: A former assistant to the district forester was sentenced for exceeding official powers and illegal logging in particularly large amounts in the Borsky district. This was reported by the unified press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      It was established that from 2019 to 2021, the volume of timber designated for logging in the clearings was significantly reduced in the declarations and did not correspond to reality. During the harvesting, trees were cut down in much larger quantities than stated in the official documents.

      Criminal cases were initiated against the assistant to the district forester under part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (exceeding official powers) - three episodes, and under part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal logging in particularly large amounts) - four episodes. The accused claimed that during the specified period he did not have the necessary official powers, and according to him, there is no evidence of illegal logging of trees.

      The Borsky City Court imposed a sentence of 8.5 years in a strict regime colony with a fine of almost 10.8 million rubles. In addition, the former assistant was deprived of the right to hold positions in public service related to the functions of a representative of authority and organizational and administrative powers for 6.5 years.

      It is noted that the guilty party compensated the material damage caused to the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife Protection of the Nizhny Novgorod region in the amount of almost 3.4 million rubles. The court's verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
