VTB My Investments analysts maintain their forecast for the key rate at the end of 2026 at 12% in their baseline scenario. This was announced by VTB My Investments investment strategist Alexey Kornilov at the VTB Investment Forum "RUSSIA CALLS! Nizhny Novgorod."
"The Central Bank previously forecasted an average key rate in 2026 at 13.5-14.5%, but has now revised the forecast to 14-14.5%. However, the year is ongoing, and each time the forecast is made for the remainder of the year, so it is slightly adjusted. This has almost no impact on our forecast. We maintain our baseline forecast for the key rate at the end of the year – 12%," said the strategist.
According to Kornilov, for investors, the trajectory of rate reduction is positive news, as it positively affects the stock market, the equity market, and the bond market. In 2026, the Bank of Russia reduced the key rate three times – from 16% to 14.5%.
