The campaign "Features of National Cleaning" has started in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On April 30, 2026, at 16:58 Society In Nizhny Novgorod, the fourth season of the All-Russian ecological-patriotic action "Features of National Cleaning" started on April 30. The event was held in accordance with the objectives of the national project "Environmental Well-Being," as well as within the framework of the federal project "Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment" of the national project "Infrastructure for Life." More than 700 people participated in the action - volunteers, participants of the project "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region," and local residents. They cleaned the banks of the Oka River near the Nizhny Novgorod planetarium and planted young trees. The Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Secretary of the regional branch of "United Russia" Gleb Nikitin, presented volunteers with letters of gratitude and commemorative gifts for their contribution to the ecological well-being of the region and other territories of the country. He noted that the region must remain among the leaders of the ecological agenda, emphasizing the importance of uniting the efforts of residents. "This event united the action 'Features of National Cleaning,' in which several thousand people participated, and the All-Russian Saturday in the framework of the project 'Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment.' And, of course, we must remember that this year has been declared by the President of the country, Vladimir Putin, as the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. It is very symbolic that today we unite in the matter of cleanliness and order in our native city," said Gleb Nikitin.

      The event was organized by the relevant ministries of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the foundation for supporting ecological initiatives "Compass." Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia Maxim Korolkov noted that the Nizhny Novgorod Region traditionally demonstrates a high level of ecological culture. According to him, the region and its capital remain an example of improvement and the implementation of best practices, and the joint work is aimed at further improving the urban environment. The action "Features of National Cleaning" has been held since 2023 and has already covered 30 regions of the country. During this time, more than 37,000 people have participated in it, collecting over 380 tons of garbage. For participants in Nizhny Novgorod, an additional program was prepared with the participation of athletes and public figures, as well as interactive sites and cultural performances. The director of the "Compass" foundation, Tatyana Kovaleva, noted that it is symbolic to start the new season of the action in Nizhny Novgorod. After all, this is her hometown with an incredible character and special color. "The action 'Features of National Cleaning' has proven: when thousands of people come together to make the city cleaner, it becomes not just a cleanup of the territory, but a major event that shows that love for one's homeland begins with concrete actions," she added.

      Activists of the "Volunteers of Victory" movement also participated in the Saturday cleanup. The head of the regional branch, Maria Samodelkina, emphasized that participation in such actions is a civic duty, as well as an important contribution to the formation of a culture of careful attitude towards the environment among young people. Throughout April, a month of improvement and sanitary cleaning of territories was held in all districts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Municipalities, public and volunteer organizations, as well as corporate partners and students participated in it. Managing companies, together with residents, held more than 800 Saturday cleanups, in which about 9,000 people took part. In the region, 93 public spaces in 23 municipalities are presented for selection, including Nizhny Novgorod and the adjacent Kstovo district. Residents of Russia over 14 years old can participate in the voting until June 12.
