In Nizhny Novgorod, activists of "United Russia" and "Young Guard" unfurled a 300-meter-long St. George ribbon.
The event took place as part of the United Russia party project "Historical Memory."
In the run-up to Victory Day, more than 2,000 activists from the United Russia party and the Young Guard unfurled a 300-meter St. George ribbon around the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. The action was organized by the regional branch of the Young Guard and the Nizhny Novgorod regional executive committee of the United Russia party in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Policy and the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region. "This flash mob is a visual embodiment of the unbreakable connection of times. When youth of different ages, with different hobbies and interests stood together in a single symbol – the St. George ribbon, just as our grandfathers and great-grandfathers once stood in a united formation, and all those who defended our homeland during the Great Patriotic War," said the Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Svetlana Anufrieva. The participants of the event honored the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War with a moment of silence and performed the anthem of the Russian Federation. "By organizing mass spectacular events for May 9, the activists of Nizhny Novgorod always demonstrate unity. By their example, they show everyone how important it is to preserve the memory of the heroism of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. It is important that the guys not only remember history but make it a part of their lives. The flash mob for the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory amazed many with its combination of scale and symbolism. This act contained everything: pride for the country, for our heroes, for the Victory, as well as unity and respect for our homeland. I am confident that with such a generation, strong, thoughtful, and caring, our country has a secure future," commented the event the chairman of the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod, member of the General Council of United Russia, Regional Political Council of the party, veteran of the Special Military Operation, Yevgeny Chintsov. This ribbon was first unfurled in 2022 in Mariupol. Now the Young Guards are passing it to different cities. From Nizhny Novgorod, the ribbon will go to Tambov, and on May 9, it will be unfurled in Moscow. The St. George ribbon was delivered to the event in Nizhny Novgorod by a GAZ vehicle – the successor of the famous GAZ-AA truck. During the Great Patriotic War, these vehicles delivered ammunition, transported the wounded, and evacuated people. The vehicle became a symbol of wartime, courage, and the hard work of soldiers. "Our grandfathers won in the Great Patriotic War and passed on to us a strong, rich, beautiful country in the world. It is important for us that the younger generation feels its connection to this feat. The youth are the future of the country, and we must be worthy of our ancestors. I am confident that the greatest Victory of our generation is ahead!" noted the leader of the Young Guard of the Nizhny Novgorod region, veteran of the Special Military Operation, Roman Zykov. Let us remind you that the preservation of Russia's cultural and military heritage, as well as the patriotic education of youth, is one of the most important areas of implementing the People's Program of United Russia and the party project "Historical Memory."
