The main building of the Bashkirov mill has been restored in Nizhny Novgorod.
On April 29, 2026, at 10:34, Culture and Leisure: The main building of the Bashkirov mill in Nizhny Novgorod has been adapted for modern use. The cultural heritage site has been restored as part of a project by the federal developer GloraX, Governor Gleb Nikitin reported on his MAX channel. The head of the region reminded that the reconstruction is part of a large-scale project for the comprehensive development of the Chernigov embankment. The project includes updating the infrastructure of the area: creating children's and sports playgrounds, bike paths, and a well-equipped walking area. Thanks to the investor, the facades and roofs of 10 cultural heritage sites have already been restored.
The day before, the main building of the mill received a compliance certificate for the project documentation. The nine-story building is planned to house 57 apartments, with a total area of almost 6,500 square meters. The governor noted that the architecture of the building "combines merchant traditions with the spirit of the present time."
The history of the Bashkirov milling production on the banks of the Oka began in 1871. At the beginning of the 20th century, the industrial zone acquired an architectural appearance that has been preserved to this day. After the All-Russian Industrial and Art Exhibition of 1896, a decision was made to rebuild the enterprise, resulting in the appearance of stone warehouse buildings. During the Soviet period, the complex continued to be used for its intended purpose, but over time it fell into disrepair.
The complex of the milling mill of the trading house "Emelyan Bashkirov and Sons" became the first project to receive preferential financing from DOM.RF under the program for the restoration of cultural heritage sites. As part of the Chernigov embankment development project, the restoration of two more sites is also planned: the former dormitory of the milling mill complex will be converted into apartments and commercial premises, while the "Degtyarev Mill" will be transformed into a residential building. Earlier, it was reported that construction of an exhibition hall on the Chernigov embankment will begin in April. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
