There are almost no rooms left in hotels in Nizhny Novgorod for the May holidays.
April 28, 2026 12:06 Society The long-awaited May holidays are just around the corner. And although the weather does not yet create the atmosphere of spring break, tourists are not discouraged and are planning trips for the long weekend. It is no secret that Nizhny Novgorod remains one of the most popular destinations for trips, as evidenced by the number of booked rooms in the hotels of the Volga capital. The situation with accommodation ahead of the May holidays was studied by the NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."
Let’s imagine that a tourist is choosing a hotel for two adult guests for two nights. The dates are already known: May 1-3 or May 9-11. Surprisingly, travelers preferring the elite segment of hotels will have the hardest time—there are the fewest available rooms here.
For example, the famous Sheraton hotel, located on Theater Square, can offer only three options from May 1 to 3: for 46,200 rubles, 56,700 rubles, or 88,000 rubles. In addition, there is one more Presidential Suite available for those days, but staying in it will cost 425,600 rubles.
With the second weekend from May 9 to 11, the situation at this hotel is better, many more accommodation options are still available, but the prices are higher. The cost ranges from 50,400 to 150,400 rubles. The Presidential Suite is also available for these dates.
Similar circumstances have arisen at Hampton by Hilton, which is located on Maxim Gorky Street. For the first May holidays, only three rooms are available, with prices ranging from 38,000 to 42,000 rubles. From May 9 to 11, they can offer only one option—a room for 35,500 rubles.
Meanwhile, at the "Minin" hotel, there are no available places for the May holidays. At the "Nikitin" hotel, from May 1 to 3, only two rooms are left—an apartment for 51,300 rubles and a suite for 95,000 rubles, and from May 9 to 11, only the second option is available. The situation is similar at Marins, "Sova," and "Alexandrovsky Sad," where only one or three rooms are available for these dates, with prices ranging around 30,000 to 80,000 rubles.
In addition, tourists are actively booking rooms in three-star hotels. The cost of rooms here starts from 13,000 rubles, but such hotels are often located far from the city center. Two-star hotels can offer cheaper options—from 8,000 rubles, which are closer to the airport and train stations.
Some travelers prefer to stay in apartments or flats that are rented daily. In the city center or near the Moscow railway station, a studio can be rented for about 22,000 to 32,000 rubles for two nights, while options in remote areas of Nizhny Novgorod are offered for 12,000 to 18,000 rubles. It is worth noting that closer to the edge of the city, you can find accommodation for daily rent for 6,000 to 8,000 rubles for two nights, but such apartments are hard to call sufficiently comfortable.
Earlier, the head of the region, Gleb Nikitin, commented on the situation with the shortage of hotels and the high cost of accommodation in Nizhny Novgorod. According to him, the shortage of hotel rooms is related to the sharp increase in tourist flow to the region.
The problem will be solved by new hotels. It is known that 16 new hotels are planned to be built in the region by 2029. Financing will be carried out through private investments and a federal program for preferential lending within the framework of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality."
