Almost 29 kg of unsafe baked goods and sweets were seized in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      April 28, 2026 17:08 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, following control and supervisory activities and social-hygienic monitoring, 28.6 kg of unsafe bakery and confectionery products were removed from circulation. This was reported by the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor. A total of 527 product samples were examined. Bakery products were checked in several areas. As part of the assessment of physicochemical characteristics, including the content of preservatives and synthetic dyes, 143 samples were studied—all of which met mandatory requirements. In terms of microbiological safety indicators, another 110 samples were examined—no violations were found. Additionally, 52 samples were checked for sanitary-chemical indicators, including nitrates, pesticides, mycotoxins, and heavy metal salts. All results were within normal limits. The highest number of violations was found in confectionery products. Of the 158 samples checked for microbiological indicators, 12 samples (7.5%) did not meet mandatory requirements. At the same time, 64 samples of confectionery products, examined for physicochemical and sanitary-chemical indicators, successfully passed laboratory tests and were deemed safe. Following the inspections, 28.6 kg of unsafe products were removed from circulation. Among the main violations were unsatisfactory results of laboratory studies, lack of complete and reliable information for consumers, sale of goods past their expiration date, as well as non-compliance with storage conditions. Administrative measures have been taken for all identified facts. It was previously reported that nearly 300 kg of unsafe vegetables and fruits were removed in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
