The number of crimes against state authority has doubled in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

In the first quarter of 2026, 158 corruption-related crimes were detected in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This is 15.3% more than in the same period of 2025, when 137 such cases were registered. Most of these offenses fall into the category of serious and particularly serious crimes. Over three months, 127 such crimes were recorded, which is 12.4% higher than last year's figure. The number of crimes against state authority, the interests of public service, and service in local government bodies has also increased. A total of 191 such crimes were registered — 50.4% more than the previous year. In the first quarter, 87 bribery cases were documented. This includes 35 instances of receiving a bribe, which is 29.6% more than the 2025 figure. The number of bribery cases has also increased — to 32, which is 23.1% higher than last year's level. It was previously reported that former city manager Oleg Kondrashov was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in a strict regime colony and fined 340 million rubles for a multimillion-dollar bribe.
