      On April 19, 2026, at 17:39, Society - The head of the Balakhna district, Andrey Dranishnikov, stated that the information about the possible relocation of residents from house No. 54 on Engels Street to barracks is not true.

      "I want to refute the rumors - there will be no relocation to barracks. Residents will be provided with normal housing in accordance with all requirements of the housing code, or monetary compensation will be paid, which they can use to purchase housing themselves - we will take into account the wishes of the residents," Dranishnikov wrote on his social media.

      Currently, residents of the first and second entrances continue to move their belongings. Rescuers are on site: they accompany people to their apartments and monitor safety.

      In the third entrance, specialists were only able to access the first floor - further advancement was deemed unsafe. Access for residents there is closed. Several people did not have time to collect even their documents, and the administration intends to assist them in restoring them.

      Eight people remain in the temporary accommodation center. They have been provided with hot meals and all necessary items. The head of the district reported that he spoke with the affected individuals and that specific issues for each family are currently being addressed separately.

      An examination of the building's condition has already been conducted, and its official results are expected tomorrow. According to preliminary conclusions from specialists, the building will be recognized as emergency and subject to relocation. The issue of funding is being worked on by the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Recall that on April 17, a large crack formed in the wall of the three-story apartment building No. 54 on Engels Street, which continues to grow. Residents were urgently evacuated. Twenty people were sent to the temporary accommodation center, where they were provided with sleeping places and food. A state of emergency has been declared in the district due to the threat of the building's collapse. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article "Negligence." The investigation is under the control of the prosecutor's office.
