      On April 20, 2026, at 08:00, the Nizhny Novgorod State Traffic Inspectorate explained the procedure for restoring a driver's license in case of loss. If the driver's license is lost, it is important not to delay and to start the restoration process as soon as possible. This will help not only to recover the document but also to protect your personal data.

      First, you should contact the police and file a report about the loss. This step is not mandatory, but it can protect you if the document ends up in the hands of strangers.

      Next, you need to submit an application for a replacement license. This can be done at any division of the State Traffic Inspectorate or through "Gosuslugi." Payment of the state fee is also available there.

      You also need to address the issue of the medical certificate. It is not mandatory to provide it, but it affects the validity period of the new license. If you have the certificate, the license will be issued for 10 years. If not, the document will be valid for as long as the previous one had left.

      At the appointed time, you need to come to the division of the State Traffic Inspectorate with your passport and, if available, the medical certificate. After being photographed, you will receive a new driver's license.
