Nizhny Novgorod residents can apply to participate in the project "More than a trip to the youth capital."

      Young men and women from the Nizhny Novgorod region and other regions of the country will have the opportunity to embark on a meaningful journey to Smolensk and Yelets, to feel like bloggers and showcase these cities through the eyes of youth, and also become the heroes of documentary films from the trips. This has become possible thanks to the Rosmolodyozh program "More than a Journey."

      The application period will last until May 10, 2026, on the official website of the project "More than a Journey to the Youth Capital." Following the competitive selection, 75 people will travel in June to get acquainted with the cities that have received the status of "Youth Capital of Russia – 2026" and "City of Youth." The trip will take place as part of the national project "Youth and Children," which is being implemented in the country on the instructions of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

      This year, the "Youth Capital of Russia" was chosen from large cities for the fourth time. A special nomination "City of Youth" for smaller settlements that create no less opportunities for young people was established for the first time. The program "More than a Journey" will help showcase the winning cities through the eyes of young people, reveal their tourist appeal, and demonstrate the main attractions for youth through interesting content created by the winners of the competitive selection.

      "Young people aged 18 to 35 from all over Russia will be able to participate in the competitive selection and embark on media expeditions to the youth capital Smolensk or the city of youth Yelets. The youth capital will host 50 winners, while 25 people will travel to the Lipetsk region. The results of these journeys will be two documentary films. The main characters will be the participants themselves, and the mentors for the young people during the trips will be professionals from the media sphere," said the General Director of the ANO "More than a Journey," Olesya Teterina.

      To participate in the selection stage, applicants need to complete a creative task: to tell on the social network "VKontakte" about the features of their home region, choosing one of the topics: sports, science, art, nature, history. The task must be completed in one of three formats: photo publication (a series of 5–10 photos), video publication (a video lasting 60–90 seconds), or text publication (300–500 words). The publication on the social network must contain mandatory hashtags: #MoreThanAJourney #MediaExpedition2026. A link to it must be provided in the personal account. There, participants also need to select the city they would like to travel to in case of victory – Smolensk or Yelets.

      The works will be evaluated by experts among experienced photographers and videographers, digital producers, bloggers, opinion leaders, and finalists of the special project "Exchange of Youth Capitals" for 2024 and 2025. In addition, curators together with the winners will develop media plans for the expeditions so that young people can tell about the brightest events and interesting locations in Smolensk and Yelets.

      The results of the selection stage will be announced on May 24, 2026.
