Nizhny Novgorod deputies collected 60 bags of trash at the Rowing Canal.

      April 18, 2026 16:50 Society Members of the Nizhny Novgorod Duma and members of the Youth Chamber joined the citywide cleanup event, which is taking place as part of the beautification month from April 5 to May 15. On April 18, deputies Pavel Pashinin, Alexey Rodin, Dmitry Igoshin, and Zhanna Skvortsova went out to clean the territory of the rowing canal embankment. Together with staff from the City Duma and representatives of the Youth Chamber, they collected about 60 bags of trash. The Chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod Duma, Evgeny Chintsov, noted that the rowing canal is the city's "calling card" and an important attraction point. "Such cleanups not only make the city cleaner but also demonstrate an example of careful attitude towards what has already been done, and most importantly, they unite Nizhny Novgorod residents for a common cause – maintaining order in our beloved city," said Evgeny Chintsov.

      In addition, deputies organized cleanups in their electoral districts across all areas of the city. The work involved staff from housing maintenance organizations and residents: sidewalks and lawns were cleared, trash and dead wood were removed from yards and playgrounds. The beach area on the rowing canal was previously improved as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life" under the program "Creating a Comfortable Urban Environment." The decision to update it was made by the residents of Nizhny Novgorod a few years ago during a rating vote. Since then, deputies and staff from the Duma have been conducting cleanups here annually.
