      There are 35 fish farming enterprises in the Nizhny Novgorod region that produce almost 700 tons of products annually. These figures were provided by the chairman of the regional Legislative Assembly, Evgeny Lyulin, summarizing the visit of the delegation of the Council of Legislators of the Volga Federal District to the Mari El Republic.

      The delegation visited a unique farm that breeds albino sturgeons. Its owners, a married couple of entrepreneurs, started literally from scratch: a couple of pools in the premises of an abandoned village shop. Today, the farm produces several tons of fish annually and has become a point of attraction for guests from all over Russia.

      - You should have seen the delight of the farm's guests when they are allowed to touch a live sturgeon! - shares Evgeny Lyulin. He also added that the owners plan to create an agritourism complex with guest houses, a spa center, and the release of cosmetics under their personal brand. The project has already won a federal competition and will receive funding from the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. Evgeny Lyulin noted that aquaculture is also actively developing in the Nizhny Novgorod region, with subsidies and grants available for fish farmers. In his opinion, each of the local enterprises has the potential to grow into a tourist attraction, with its own character, original cuisine, and quality fishing.
