On April 18, 2026, at 15:05, Society The head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, joined the citywide Saturday cleanup in the "Yubileyny" park in the Kstovo district. Together with local residents and the head of the administration, Ivan Ulanov, they were tidying up the park, which was improved under the FCGS program.
The participants of the cleanup not only picked up trash and cleaned the paths but also took care of the green plantings. Yuri Shalabaev, along with ecologists, pruned trees, trimmed bushes, and treated the cuts with garden wax.
The city head noted that he tries to visit as many sites as possible to personally oversee the improvement efforts.
"Despite the unfriendly weather, residents came out today to help with the cleanup. They also understand that it is important not only to create such spaces but also to maintain them," the mayor shared in his Max channel.
Yuri Shalabaev clarified that those who could not join the citywide cleanup today due to the weather could do so on another day. The month of improvement will last until May 15.
"Anyone can organize and participate in the cleanup at any time – around their home, workplace, or any other area. Next week, a nationwide cleanup will be held. I also urge everyone to participate," emphasized the city head.
Cleanups took place today in all nine districts of Nizhny Novgorod at 47 public spaces - in city parks and recreation areas, as well as on the territories of enterprises, educational organizations, healthcare institutions, culture, and sports. Despite the morning rain, schoolchildren, activists from various organizations, administration employees, ecologists, and local residents came out for the cleanup.
Let us remind you that on April 25, a large-scale nationwide cleanup will take place across the country with the support of the Ministry of Construction of Russia.
