An auto rally took place in Nizhny Novgorod in anticipation of the "Victory Dictation."

      On April 18, 2026, at 14:32, Society In Nizhny Novgorod, a car rally was held in connection with the international historical and educational action "Dictation of Victory." The event was organized by the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the United Russia party in collaboration with the unified military-patriotic center "Avangard."

      "Historical truth does not need protection — it is stronger than any falsifications. But it very much needs those who preserve and pass it on. Today we showed that the memory of the war, of Victory, of those who gave their lives for the Motherland, lives in each of us. This is our response to those who want to forget, rewrite history, and question the feat of the Soviet soldier. It won't work. We remember. And we will always remember," noted Dmitry Filipenko, head of the Nizhny Novgorod regional executive committee of the United Russia party.

      More than 50 cars participated in the car rally. The column included motorists from public and youth organizations. The route stretched from Lenin Square to Victory Park.

      "How to measure patriotism? It seems to me that it is measured by people's response to such actions. And I am very proud that today dozens of Nizhny Novgorod residents joined the car rally as part of the party project 'Historical Memory,' which took place ahead of the 'Dictation of Victory,' to show our unity to the whole country. This shows that the work on patriotic education that we are doing in the region is bearing fruit — and not only among the youth, as adults also participate in such actions, which is especially valuable," emphasized Vasily Sukhanov, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      The motorcade moved under the flags of the Russian Federation and the United Russia party. Five retro cars of the "Victory," Volga, and GAZ brands participated in the rally. The action was led by the legendary GAZ-M-20 "Victory" car — a symbol of the post-war restoration of the country.

      "This car is our family relic. It was manufactured in 1956, the same year I was born. My father bought it, and for 70 years the car has remained in our family. I restored it, take care of it, and constantly participate in events, especially those related to the celebration of Victory. This car symbolizes the victory of our automotive industry after the Great Patriotic War. The creator of the car understood perfectly what kind of car the country needed at that time, and it gained immense popularity. Participating in today's car rally is a tribute to memory and an opportunity to show that history lives not only in books," said car rally participant and owner of the GAZ-M-20 "Victory," Mikhail Sukhonin.

      The car rally concluded with a ceremony of laying flowers at the stele "City of Labor Valor" in Victory Park. Participants honored the memory of fallen soldiers and expressed their readiness to continue supporting patriotic actions aimed at preserving historical truth.

      An exhibition dedicated to non-standard venues where the "Dictation of Victory" took place in previous years was also set up in Victory Park. The action has long transcended the framework of simple knowledge testing in history. Today, it is a large-scale patriotic holiday that unites people around the world. The dictation is written not only in Russia but also in Belarus and other countries.

      "I decided to participate in the car rally to support the 'Dictation of Victory' action. I will gladly take part in the dictation myself and check my knowledge," said car rally participant Yulia Melnikova.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod region this year, more than 700 venues have been registered. The action includes a whole series of events — car rallies, concerts, meetings. This is not just a knowledge check, but an opportunity to feel a connection to the Great Victory.

      Let us remind you that the "Dictation of Victory" has been held annually since 2019 on the initiative of the Organizational Committee of the United Russia party "Our Victory." The goal of the action is to test knowledge of the history of the Great Patriotic War, to increase historical literacy, and to promote patriotic education among the youth. Venues for writing the dictation are opened in schools, colleges, universities, museums, industrial enterprises, and military units. Everyone can participate in the "Dictation of Victory" by choosing the nearest venue on the website dictationofvictory.rf or writing online. Based on the results of the action, 20 winners are selected annually across the country and five best in each region.
