      Fraudsters deceived a resident of the Vachsky district out of more than 2,500,000 rubles. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod region. The 69-year-old woman told the police that she received phone calls from unknown individuals who introduced themselves as employees of law enforcement agencies and other government structures. The scammers misled the woman, convincing her of her alleged involvement in illegal activities and that she was acting as a sponsor for an unfriendly country. Under the pretext of "cancelling a suspicious operation," they persuaded her to transfer a large sum of money. The woman withdrew her personal savings over the course of a week and sent them via ATM to the accounts they dictated. After some time, she realized that she had become a victim of fraud and contacted the police. A criminal case has been initiated under the article on fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
