The ZSNO will consider a bill on a single taxi color in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On April 16, 2026, at 14:02 Society A bill has been submitted to the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Duma, proposing the introduction of a single color for taxis. The document is posted on the official website of the regional parliament.

      Let us remind you that the initiative to amend the regional law on passenger transportation was put forward by the Ministry of Transport of the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to the bill, taxis must be orange, just like passenger buses. An exception will be made for business-class vehicles, which will be allowed to be black.

      At the same time, the new requirements will not apply to taxis that have already received a transportation permit (which is issued for five years). However, after its expiration, owners will have to bring the color of their vehicles into compliance.

      Meanwhile, in March, the Public Council for Taxi Development sent a request to the regional authorities asking them not to support the initiative to introduce a mandatory color for taxi vehicles. The industry believes that this could lead to some carriers going underground and an increase in fares.

      The Ministry of Transport disagrees with this: they are confident that a single color will, on the contrary, simplify market control, make taxis more recognizable, and will not affect prices.
