From June 5 to 7, 2026, the International Arts Festival "Pushkin Without Borders" will take place for the third time in the village of Bolshoye Boldino and the village of Lvovka in the spaces of the A.S. Pushkin Museum-Reserve "Boldino," supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. For all of Russia, Boldino is a special place where Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin experienced one of the most fruitful periods of his creativity. In 2026, the festival will continue the traditions of cultural dialogue, connecting the classical heritage of the poet with modern artistic forms. The foundation of the festival will be the theatrical direction, and the program will include multi-genre creative projects specially created for the festival. "This year we are updating the festival's concept, giving space for experimentation to our colleagues in the theater industry. We already have experience in partnerships between museums and theaters, and the protected Boldino territories, in unity with Pushkin's creativity, provide incredible scope for a subtle, intelligent, and modern reinterpretation of the literary, architectural, and natural heritage of the area. We are interested not just in holding a few concerts and performances in the museum – we aim to connect all the days of the festival with a unified concept, a single thought, a common artistic language. And, of course, to involve the local residents in the preparations, as guests from all over the country will come to them," noted the Minister of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Natalia Sukhanova. This year, the festival organizers plan to expand the program and significantly increase the audience. The key idea of the 2026 festival is "culture of participation": special attention will be paid to involving the residents of Bolshoye Boldino in the preparation and execution of events. This will make the cultural life of the village, which is part of the "Golden Ring of Russia," even brighter, as well as establish new standards of Boldino hospitality. The festival program will reveal the relevance of Pushkin's words for the modern world, demonstrating how his works inspire artists, musicians, actors, and directors today. Special attention will be given to international projects and cooperation with creative teams from CIS countries. The legendary Belarusian state ensemble "Pesnyary" will come to Boldino with a concert. "Pushkin Without Borders" is more than just a festival. It is a dialogue of eras, cultures, knowledge, and emotions. In 2026, we are expanding the program and inviting everyone – both Nizhny Novgorod residents and guests of the region, as well as the residents of Bolshoye Boldino – to become part of this celebration. We have no doubt that you will feel that the land of Boldino continues to inspire. And the museum-reserve not only preserves the memory of the poet but also strives to ensure that his creative legacy does not turn into merely a "school program," but rather stirs emotions and enriches the spiritual world of representatives from different generations," summarized Nina Zhirkova, director of the A.S. Pushkin Museum-Reserve "Boldino."
Let us remind you that in 2025, the festival was attended by more than 20,000 people, and the total audience of online broadcasts and podcasts exceeded 1 million viewers. In addition, the "Pushkin Without Borders" festival was awarded the Grand Prix of the international Russian Event Awards 2025 in the category of "Best Tourist Event in Hybrid Format," confirming its high artistic, cultural, and social status.
