A smoking pensioner burned to death in Nizhny Novgorod.

      April 12, 2026 14:16 Incidents A fire broke out in a high-rise building on Starykh Proizvodnikov Street in the Avtozavodsky District of Nizhny Novgorod. According to the regional emergency management agency, the fire ignited in one of the apartments. Three children and nine adults were evacuated from the building. The fire was extinguished over an area of 8 square meters. The body of a 67-year-old man was found in the ashes. It is presumed that he fell asleep with a cigarette. Earlier, we reported on the death of a woman in a fire in Dzerzhinsk, as well as a terrible fire that claimed the lives of two people in the Leninsky District of the regional center.
