Police seized illegal alcohol worth 3.8 million rubles in Bor.
On April 9, 2026, at 17:50, Incidents In the Nizhny Novgorod region, police officers seized a large batch of unmarked alcoholic products with a total value of over 3.8 million rubles. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.
The illegal trade was organized by neighbors from the garage cooperative on GoGRES Street. Two warehouses with illegal alcohol were discovered by the employees of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region with the support of Bor police officers. They seized 7,642 bottles of alcohol of unknown origin and 9 canisters of alcohol-containing liquid.
An examination established that the bottles contained a liquid with ethanol content, which is subject to mandatory labeling. The suspects were detained. They turned out to be local residents. One of them admitted involvement in the illegal acquisition and sale of alcohol. According to him, he purchased a large batch of unmarked products and managed to sell part of the goods in Bor. The second suspect refused to provide explanations.
Both were placed under a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave and proper behavior. The seized alcohol has been transferred for storage to the Federal Service for Alcohol Market Regulation.
Criminal cases have been initiated under paragraph "b" of part 2 of article 171.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal production and/or circulation of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic and alcohol-containing products) and paragraph "b" of part 6 of article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (production, acquisition, storage, transportation, or sale of goods and products without labeling and/or application of information provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation).
For such crimes, the law provides for penalties ranging from fines of up to 3 million rubles to imprisonment for up to five years.
Earlier, it was reported that a 50-year-old resident of Arzamas would be prosecuted for organizing an underground tobacco workshop.
