The servicing of pumping stations at the Dzerzhinsk water utility will accelerate by 27% thanks to "Labor Productivity."

      April 9, 2026 16:13 Economy Experts from the Regional Competence Center (RCC) together with employees of the branch of JSC "Dzerzhinsk Vodokanal" summarized the interim results of implementing lean technology tools at the enterprise as part of the federal project "Labor Productivity" of the national project "Effective and Competitive Economy." Specialists from the Regional Competence Center have been working at the participating enterprises of the federal project for six months. After three months, an Information Day is held, during which RCC experts and the project team summarize the results and present the final schedule of activities to achieve the goals to the enterprise's management. The main activity of the company is the collection and treatment of wastewater, as well as the distribution of water for drinking and industrial needs. According to the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Maxim Cherkasov, the pilot process chosen was the maintenance of sewage pumping stations (SPS). "RCC specialists, together with the enterprise team, analyzed the processes at the production site and identified 11 'bottlenecks,' including the need for repeated servicing of stations, excessive labor intensity during transport, and excessive waiting for ventilation to operate. Solutions were proposed for each of these points, and an action plan was developed. The implementation of the proposals from RCC specialists and the project team will reduce the maintenance time of SPS by 27 percent – from eight and a half hours to six hours and fifteen minutes," Maxim Cherkasov said. RCC experts also trained 21 employees of the enterprise in lean technologies and are currently preparing two internal trainers who will be able to independently train their colleagues in the future. In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, eight companies in the utilities sector, including three water utilities, are implementing lean technology tools as part of the federal project "Labor Productivity" of the national project "Effective and Competitive Economy."
