      The major renovation has been completed at the A.S. Pushkin School of Arts and Crafts "Izograf," located at 11 Ulyanova Street in Nizhny Novgorod. On April 8, the head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, visited it.

      The school was opened in the early 1990s. It was initially aimed at children with disabilities. It was located in a wooden house in the area of Sennaya Square, which was recognized as emergency and is now in the metro construction zone.

      The current building also needed major repairs, which have now been completed. The educational institution is currently undergoing the licensing process. After that, it will be able to accept children.

      In total, more than 1,200 students are engaged in various programs at the school, including 77 children with hearing and speech impairments.

      "Supplementary education has long been neglected in terms of material support, and now we are paying special attention to it," noted Yuri Shalabaev, reminding that not far from the school buildings, the Chkalov Palace of Children's Creativity was recently opened after major renovations.

      As the director of the A.S. Pushkin School of Arts and Crafts, Galina Savkina, stated, the educational institution implements 31 educational programs in the artistic direction, some of which provide for distance learning.

      "We hope that within two weeks we will complete the licensing procedures, and by May 1 we will be ready to welcome our children here. They, their parents, and we, the teachers, have been waiting for this for a long time," she emphasized.
