      On April 8, 2026, at 12:42, Incidents: The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) has begun an investigation due to mass poisoning in the Uren district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the press service of the supervisory agency.

      In the past few days, about fifty residents have sought medical attention at the hospital with symptoms of acute intestinal poisoning. One adult and four children have been hospitalized. Schools and kindergartens have temporarily switched to remote learning.

      "A set of sanitary and anti-epidemic measures has been initiated: constant laboratory monitoring of drinking water quality is being conducted, and samples from the sick are being analyzed," Rospotrebnadzor officials said.

      The population is urged to follow personal hygiene rules and to consult medical professionals if necessary. Water should be consumed either boiled or bottled.

      It was reported that a criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Committee due to the situation in Uren. The prosecutor's office has also organized a check.
